This video was assembled from 140 photos taken from 0.63 miles away, shot in quick bursts with a very brief pause in between. That is why the video seems "jumpy" at some moments. (The copulation portion was mostly covered in bursts in quick successions, so I don't think I missed very much if anything. It was quick.) Be aware that the video speed is not exactly life-like - it's probably a little on the slow-mo side. Other than the cropping necessitated by the long distance involved, the images have not been altered.

At ~9:20 am, I observed 2 Bald Eagles apparently mating on top of a very tall and large gravel mound on a private property (an active gravel mine) across from the park. The mound is not far from the trees where 2 Bald Eagles have been regularly seen for multiple years now. I might add that yesterday was the first time I saw a Bald Eagle perched on that gravel mound. (I occasionally see other birds - Turkey Vultures, American Crows - on that mound, but not Bald Eagles.) So yesterday I was wondering why/what it was doing there. Perhaps this might be the answer. Maybe it's easier there than on a tree? [VIDEO NOTES: The male approaches from the left (left on the screen), mounts the female, then jumps off back to the left; the female is then seen moving around on the right side (right on the screen). Shot from 0.63 miles /1.016 km away - per Google Earth - from inside the park.]
