This video was compiled from 140 still photos taken from ~3/4 mile away. The photos were taken in a few bursts with a bit of pause in between, so that is why the video appears disjointed at a few moments. (But I believe I covered the copulation portion in a single burst. So I don't think I missed much if anything. It was quick.) Be aware also that the video speed is not exactly life-like - it's probably a little on the slow-mo side. Other than the cropping necessitated by the long distance involved, the images have not been manipulated.
Detalles de la observación
At ~9:20 am, I observed 2 Bald Eagles apparently mating on top of the gravel mound on a private property across Stanley Blvd. The mound is not far from the trees where 2 Bald Eagles are regularly seen. (Perhaps we can expect chicks in spring next year.) I might add that yesterday was the first time I saw a Bald Eagle perched on that gravel mound. (I occasionally see other birds - Turkey Vultures, American Crows - on that mound, but not Bald Eagles.) So yesterday I was wondering why/what it was doing there. Perhaps this might be the answer. (Perhaps easier there than on a tree?)
