Continuing bird here since at least 11-Dec-2025. This is a small owl with a round, light-colored face with brown and cream streaks, dark beak, underparts pale with dark shaded areas; upper parts are brownish-red with white spots, and a distinct whitish Y-shaped area between the eyes. Today it was easy to spot about 15 feet up a eucalyptus tree just south of the paved path at about 32.28199, -110.73095. The people standing around with bins and cameras didn't hurt either! This bird is designated as Rare on eBird, but it's in its expected range, and it is generally not considered rare given its Least Concern conservation status. Although it's not in the montane/conifer habitat usually expected of the species. So there's that. See also https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/331475093
