Way way off in the field across canal, seen from pull off just past sign 8. Flew in out of nowhere, perched for about 5 minutes at 10:28am, then disappeared. Waited 30 minutes and did not see it again. Wonderful views in scope, despite buffeting wind. If it made any noise, I couldn't hear it between the distance and strong wind. Brownish tail was pumped repeatedly while perched. Aside from not having a black tail, this bird also lacked white outer tail feathers of Western Kingbird and it lacked the pale tail tip of Cassin's Kingbird. Large bill. Relying on previous voice identification by others to get to Tropical Kingbird over Couch's.
