Observation details

Way way off in the field across canal, seen from pull off just past sign 8. Flew in out of nowhere, perched for about 5 minutes at 10:28am, then disappeared. Waited 30 minutes and did not see it again. Wonderful views in scope, despite buffeting wind. If it made any noise, I couldn't hear it between the distance and strong wind. Brownish tail was pumped repeatedly while perched. Aside from not having a black tail, this bird also lacked white outer tail feathers of Western Kingbird and it lacked the pale tail tip of Cassin's Kingbird. Large bill.
