A Glossy Ibis feeding on the margin of Herdsman Lake. The Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) is the most widespread ibis species – breeding in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean Americas. Glossy Ibises migrate widely and in Australia tend to be irruptive, moving to suitable areas after good rains. It is most common in Northern Australia and is a non-breeding visitor to Tasmania and to southwest Western Australia. This bird is one of about 10 that are regularly observed at Herdsman Lake near Perth. Elevation: 7 m. Date added to IBC: July 27, 2018.
