Came across a pair of Rufous piculets in Panti. Video the male with yellow forehead, the smallest woodpecker around, size.....smaller than the typical flowerpecker. Observe how the male bird apply drumming as a communication tool in addition to calling to locate /contact its mate. The bird prefers palm or bamboo shoot taking advantage of the sectioned, hollow stems as sound amplifier. Notice how he shifted around the ratan palm stem to locate the best spot for resonant effect to drum his message. Elevation: 1035 m. Date added to IBC: June 22, 2016.
