NOTES: Habitat: Wet, partially shaded growth of tall grasses along a ditch bordering a rice field. Remarks: A family group with a pair and four young. Two- or three-note contact calls and "PEEW" alarm note recorded. Contact calls and alarm calls were given by different birds. Also rcorded are faint peeps possibly of this species and a harsh contact note and a "subsong". Technician note: Part A: 11:26 Quality = ~2-3 Part B: 3:10 Quality = ~2 LNS: Background subject changed from Ortalis motmot to O. guttata squamata to reflect current taxonomy. --Jay McGowan 17Jul2013.
