Media notes

This bird's notes are the emphatic, reedy, well-spaced ones. Generally is a single "wheeer". Also "wheerit-wheerit" or "wheerit-wheerit-dur-dur-dur, etc." Behavior: "preening, bill-wiping". Habitat: "a former beach, now replaced by Red Mangroves seaward and Black Mangroves landward. On the old beach itself were mostly Black Mangrove, White Mangrove, Coco palms, and some shrubs. This species has since 1960 established itself in the extreme eastern coastal strip of P.R. A Lesser Antillean bird, it prefers dry scrub and mangrove edges. Other Behaviors: Advertise.
