Update: One of these birds was originally reported as a White-winged, but upon reviewing pics it was a kind of shaggy, possibly immature Surf Scoter, with a less prominet bill-bulb. Original report for the WWSC: Kind of a shaggy scoter with bicolored bill, grayish orange toward the tip. Bill and head profile like White-winged with "concave forehead" as described by Sibley. Base of bill not as domed as male Surf. A hint of white behind eye. Hoping to receive pics by email, will update.
