A typical mixed coniferous forest stand in the Kyiv region primarily composed of Pinus sylvestris and some Birch(Betula spp.). The understory is sparse characteristic of areas with nutrient-poor, sandy and acidic soils. The presence of thick pine litter and a relatively open canopy contributes to the formation of podzolized soil types.
