Found by others - immature male swimming, dark overall with mottled gray/white on chest, a bit of orange on upper bill towards the base. Thanks Steve for the alert and others for help relocating, and Jim for the scope view. Photo through scope isn't much (barely worth posting); actual view better. Observed from southwest corner of Rye Harbor SP parking lot, bird was about 400 ft out, at the beginning of the buoy field.
