I came to see the Yellow-billed Loon but it had left for the night. I took a few photos of this bird that looked a bit different. After checking my photos the next day, I thought it was a Black Scoter . But Dominik and Ed pointed out two field marks that make this bird look more like a Surf Scoter : the head peaks at the front instead of a more rounded head profile of a Black Scoter and the angle of the bill looks too smooth to be a black.
