EDIT (12/6/25): I went back and listened to the audio I recorded for this bird and I've decided to move it to WTSP. I first heard this bird calling in my neighbors yard and Merlin ID'd it as a WTSP. It sounds like a very sharp WCSP. It matches audio recordings in Merlin, and I heard a call today from a WTSP that sounded like it too. I was not able to find the bird and it was dark by the time I'd heard it. I did not refind it the next day. I've uploaded the audio. I recorded in two parts, so it's one audio file with a second of silence. It was much more active as a plane was flying over (how great), and then much quieter after. Happy to be corrected. My original description, under 'passerine sp.' is below: Almost positive this is a WTSP. Calling in the neighbors bush. I went to investigate but it was too dark. Calls match what I heard online. Dreaded "ID by Merlin," but it's for sure not one of our normal birds. Would love to confirm this, as it would be both a fantastic state bird and a yard bird :)
