Continuing. Amazing find by Chris Conard, a first record for the Central Valley. I first saw this bird foraging on the ground with some yumps, eating Chinese pistache about 100 m from original pin. It was facing me and I noted pronounced spectacles on a glowing yellow bird. The flock flushed after 10 seconds and I noted white outer rectrices, similar to a Townsends as it flew away. After about an hour it was refound in roughly the same area by Sam Schmidt and a number of us got a more prolonged view as it sat motionless in a pine for a minute or two. (38.5689476, -121.3579329)
