Similar in size and appearance to a female-type western tanager with these main differences: yellow-ish back (not grey) and uniformly dark wings with no white wing bars. Bill also appeared larger, but I could be wrong. Was buried deep in a large ficus on the west side of the street until it decided to forage, flying back and forth between the ficus trees and Chinese elms. This went on for about 10 minutes before it disappeared again.
