I'm normally reluctant to report a "pure" western gull in this area but this one seemed to tick the necessary boxes. The bird caught my eye because the mantle looked much darker than any of the (many) nearby Olympic gulls, including those that seemed to have the darkest primaries and darkest mantles. Also, unlike the nearby Olympic gulls, there was very little dark streaking or smudginess on this bird's head.
