I did my best to estimate my total based on my photos and what I observed in the field. The first and most absolutely huge group of birds was virtually silent except for a couple call notes. When I looked up, I saw an absolutely massive flock coming into view over the tree line very high up. The first 4 photos you see here represent just some of the birds in that massive flock. They covered the sky over me from the tree line to directly overhead in their entirety. It was a sight to behold. Four other comparatively small flocks between 120 and 400/500 birds each flew over later in the day. Parts of 3 of those 4 flocks are shown in photos 5-7.
