Spotted a bird that first looked like a hawk cuckoo, that crossed the road by wing and perched on a branch that was close to the building wall, above a window and an outside AC unit. The bird didn't call or move much after that. I took out my binoculars and noted something was different from the back (colours, tail pattern, proportions being slender), so after getting a short recording, I moved to the front of the bird. There, I noticed that unlike the common hawk cuckoo, this bird had a nearly uniform head and breast plumage, and at the edge of the chest, there was a brown edge and below that, a few brown bands, altogether pointing to the bird being an Indian Cuckoo, a first for our campus.
