Juvenile with moderate white wing patch, hint of golden nape.
觀察細節
Juvenile. Diagnostic white patches at the base of the inner primaries/outer secondaries ("moderate" amount of white per Wheeler), and thick black band at the end of the white tail feathers. "Bulging" secondaries. Head projection was shorter than Bald Eagle, tail projection was longer. Very fortunate to spot this bird - I heard a Red-tail calling, and when I looked up, I found the eagle instead. Circled low overhead, then headed south.
