*Rare. Larger-than-usual occurrence of this species across the mid-Atlantic states recently. Diminutive, tiny-headed shorebird spinning around in shallow water at left end of flats. Viewed reasonably well through scope. Pale underparts, hint of rufous on wings and neck, distinctive white patch on throat, and a needle-like bill. Diagnostic photos obtained.
