Identified in-hand, continuing through the summer at this location; fairly large and robust sparrow, undergoing rather extensive molt in rectrices and remiges; displayed distinctive head pattern, with white throat weakly outlined by grayish-black malar streak; extensive, yellow spot on lores merging with a dull, whitish supercilium, and a narrow and dark eyeline; prominent dark crown stripes, yellow patch under the alula at bend of wing, and pattern of spotting on scaps and coverts are also diagnostic of WTSP, in combination.
