Attached photographs were sent to several eBird reviewers. One leaned Mottled, two leaned Mexican, one speculated about hybrids. On balance the striping on the head, the coloration of the face and neck, and the hint of a white edge anterior to the bluish-purple 'speculum' tilt towards Mexican. The black 'gape' was stronger on one side than the other ... so pictures of both sides of the head are included. It is possible that a duck expert will provide details supporting revision.
