Large sparrow, with white throat and superciliary stripe that shows distinctive yellow between eye and bill. Totally unexpected at this time of year. I spend sometime almost every day, reading at the deck door, and it’s apuzzlement I haven’t seen this bird before (i regularly have a small wintering flock of thesesparrows but tey are typically gone by the end of April or first several days of May.
