One adult male flew in and began singing in response to playback. The bird was alternating two song types -- the recording includes one repeat of type 10 followed by type 1.
觀察細節
Stopped at (38.865788, -122.324738) around 6:50am to check for sparrows as this is usually where Bell's sparrow activity picks up greatly. Played a black-chinned song mostly to remind myself what I was listening for and got an immediate response from a bird that flew into a burned-out chamise about 20 yards from me. It proceeded to sing multiple times (alternating song types 1 and 10), and another bird sang back at least once from further north along the ridge. After a few minutes the visible bird took off headed north, low over the chamise. I did not see or hear any others throughout the morning, though they might be more responsive to playback -- I didn't play any more songs after the initial encounter. Photos and recording. For those looking to make the trek up here, it's 5.7 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain from the base of Rd 40 at Hwy 16.
