觀察細節
Definitely seems to be a lot of Lark Buntings around this part of Texas, this winter. While looking through a mixed flock of sparrows, had a bird land and perch for a bit in a tall, leafless shrub (or small tree). Lighting not the best, unfortunately, but able to see enough, and get some poor photos, to help confirm the ID of a Lark Bunting. Appeared to be relatively large for a sparrow type bird, looking heavy-set, with a slightly large-headed look. Showed boldly streaked underparts, a somewhat heavy bill (though not as thick looking as that shown by a Pheucticus grosbeak). Due to backlighting, the pale wing patch was a little difficult to see, although was definitely present; it showed as a narrow pale zone along leading edge of the folded wing (see photo). From the photos (after they were lightened up to counteract the strong backlighting) it appears the bird shows black in the face, primarily around the bill, like that shown by some basic-plumaged birds (males most likely?).
