觀察細節
Really amazing experience! Initially seen on the east end of the breakwater. Worked their way west on the rocks, just above water level. Continually running around and chasing each other, jumping behind rocks only to re-emerge nearby. Most of the time, we had two in view at once. Eventually they flew straight at us and landed in front of us on the north end of the lighthouse pier! Waves flushed them closer and closer to us until they were right at our feet! After a few minutes they flew around us and behind, to the walkway. There was some pedestrian traffic there. We did not refind them. Perhaps they circled back to the breakwater? Two chunky round shorebirds, similar to dunlin but with heavily streaked flanks, orange bill base, orange legs. Don will add photos
