觀察細節
Two males observed in what was perceived to be a territorial behavior on a Pecan limb about 50 feet above ground. The behavior included the birds facing each other in close proximity with their bills pointing upward, then simultaneously moving their heads quickly back and forth and up and down in opposite directions while emitting a "wicka" call. Their breast feathers were puffed out and tail feathers spread during the bouts. The bouts would last about 3-5 seconds, then pause for about 20 seconds before engaging again. This faceoff behavior continued for more than 10 minutes without the birds moving from the limb. Given the time of year, I'm wondering if this may be a winter territorial establishment behavior? Digi-scoped phone video taken. A third bird heard calling at a distance from the two dueling males.
