Crazy that this bird was directly in front of us on our paddle back from the inlet/river. Small grebe with black and white plumage, round pointy head with black extending over the eye down the cheek, black continued from the back of the head to the neck, bill was also small/petite and sharp. Unlike a horned grebe with a clear demarkation with a white cheek and flat topped head with a chunky bill. Was seen at dropped pinned and it was swimming south down the flow. Was able to digiscope some videos with my phone and binoculars and then take screenshots from those videos for a clear photo. It was windy and wavy in light weight canoe which made it difficult to digiscope. Was able to observe with binos and feel confident with what I observed. Will upload digiscoped image of the grebe.
