觀察細節
Apparently there's a dense breeding population just north of the shooting range that I didn't realize existed until now. I don't come to this spot very often so I haven't had the chance to detect this group this summer. I searched one area within an expansive grassy/shrubby field of endless wiregrass, bluestem, and myrtles and listened for about ten minutes counting birds seen and heard individually, and then drove to the other side of the shrubby grassland to count birds I wasn't able to hear from the first spot. This is likely an undercount since I counted three times at each spot and chose the smallest estimate to ebird. Several birds were heard only singing in the distance and many were up close chipping/singing. I noticed two separate fledge families including some ratty fresh juveniles, and many striking males still in full breeding plumage. I have audio, but unfortunately I didn't have the camera with me today. Looking forward to coming back to this spot next year to get a better count of singing birds earlier in the spring. Visuals included large cardinal sized solid blue or buffy brown passerines with a thick conical dark gray bill and orange folded wing panel. Audio available, habitat shots available if interested? Each audio attached represents separate birds from separate areas. There's also an entire separate chunk of land within triple N that is composed of the exact same habitat that I have regularly detected BLGR in. I wouldn't be surprised if the current count of birds exceeds 30.
