A single call is shown on second 4. After it, a BAWW is singing
觀察細節
Fidgety little birds with a golden crown surrounded by thick black stripes and a bold olive green/yellowish wing pattern and greenish tail upper side. Overall grayish otherwise. These birds were foraging in a mixed species flock that included a BAWW, a TEWA and others. Moving incessantly and flickering their wings while hunting insects. Pictures and recording added to the list. These birds were foraging very high up in a cypress cluster right around here: (29.9138433, -82.5759690), which is a bit off trail (I originally went there looking for winter wrens amidst the cypress knees and fallen trees since one was recently banded South of Gainesville). I first detected these from their piercing, high pitch zee-zee-zee-zee calls. Not content with a far sighting, I played a call tape from Merlin Bird ID and both of them came down immediately, that’s when I took the pictures. Hopefully we’ll enjoy these little rascals this winter at Turkey creek, San Felasco and Loblolly woods North. Two individuals were on the side of Alachua county, two on « the other side » (not Alachua, hence I didn’t count them in this list). More details under “comments”.
