觀察細節
The first Clapper Rail was heard clapper (kek) calling unsolicited as I approached the bend in Duck Harbor Road. This rail was in the ditch system surrounded by Phragmites and close to West Cove #1. The bird continued its clappering for more than 30 minutes. One grunt call was issued by this bird. Audio recordings submitted. The second Clapper Rail was heard clapper/kek calling more distantly and from the direction of West Cove #2. This rail was heard intermittently at the same time as the first Clapper Rail was calling. Both these locations in the Herring River marshes have been highly productive for Clapper Rails during the breeding seasons, beginning in 2013. These marshes also produce breeding Virginia Rails and post-breeding dispersed Soras.
