Flew in and perched in interior of canopy of tall tree. General alarm by kingbirds and others. After a few minutes of peering in different directions, dropped out of tree and flew off low over trees and bushes after an unidentified bird. Large accipiter, with yellow eye and cere, long tail with large rounded white markings and narrower grey bars below. Uniform plain mid grey on underparts, with dark rufous-purple thighs. Blackish crown visible when turned head. Subspecies: A. b. pileatus.
