觀察細節
As I stood on the set of stairs closest to Nicely Hall leading from upper campus to lower campus, about 25% of the way down from top, I heard a call that was not similar to other calls I have been hearing in my visits to campus. I tried to find the bird but could not, so I used the Voice Record Pro app on my iPhone X to record the call, which was somewhat drowned by the calls of Hooded Crows. I finally located the bird, a small yellowish/greenish warbler with a prominent wing bar. The wing bar really stood out. I also noted pinkish legs. I did not have good views of the head. I was carrying my camera in my backpack due to campus restrictions. I quickly took the camera out to take photos, but unfortunately, by the time I had my camera ready, I could not relocate the bird. I returned on Feb 5 with Fouad Itani. who played the call of the Green Warbler. A warbler responded with a near identical note. It is to be noted that the Green Warbler and Hume's Warbler calls are very similar. With Fouad's help, we narrowed down the id to Green Warbler. However, upon getting hold of my voice recording, Fouad sent it to Mr. A. El-Serhan in Kuwait, who is more familiar with these warblers. Mr. El-Serhan analyzed the voice spectrum and indicated the recording is of a Hume's Warbler rather than that of a Green Warbler (a Green Warbler would rise higher and drop lower than the bird recorded. The bird recorded matches the kHz range and pattern of a Hume's Warbler.)
