觀察細節
Expected ssp Group. The female birds of all populations are similar, so I will only be describing the differences between the male birds. The alpestris Group, or Eastern Dark Group, is the expected ssp Grouping of HOLA for the Northeast. The other North American options for ssp Groupings on eBird are Western pale, and Western rufous. The Northeastern Birds lack the dark, spotted streaking of the strigata birds, and pinkish nape and flanks of the sierrae birds, both of which are in the Western rufous Group. The Western pale Group is made up of adusta, arcticola, and occidentalis birds, all of which lack the extensive yellow on the face of alpestris birds. The notable features on alpestris birds are the reddish rump, and slightly brownish/reddish nape and flanks, that contrast with the back, which is brown. They also have a collar of light streaks. The yellow is strongest on the throat, and is also present in the supralorals, fading to more of a whitish the farther back on the supercilium you look. I will refer to this checklist in the future for supporting evidence for reporting the expected ssp Grouping for VT.
