觀察細節
4 individuals, 1 male and 3 females were foraging on the grassy borders of the new bike path spur along the new pond/wetland between the pedestrian bridge and Armitage Road. There was shallow water on the side opposite to the pond. The Rusty Blackbirds were loosely associated with several Red-winged Blackbirds and European Starlings, but flew off after about ten minutes by themselves, crossing over the Hocking River. One Rusty was briefly chased by a male Red-winged Blackbird. Smaller than male Common Grackle with shorter tail, slimmer beak, and apparent less glossy plumage. Slimmer shape than male Red-winged Blackbird which has shorter and more conical bill. Iris whitish-yellow in both sexes. Male bird all black with minor gloss, a hint of brown may remain on its crown but images are a bit blurry. The tree females are a warm darker brown, with distinctive buffy eyebrows contrasting with blackish area around eyes.
