A male White-winged Fairy-wren calling, defending its territory. White-winged Fairy-wrens (Malurus leucopterus) are widespread throughout arid and semi-arid Australia, and are typically found in saltmarshes and chenopod shrublands. Like other Fairy-wren species, White-winged Fairy-wrens are commonly in family groups that inhabit and defend a territory. This male White-winged Fairy-wrens responded to another male calling nearby by jumping into the upper part of a dead shrub, and calling back with his crest raised. A Rufous Songlark is calling in the background. Elevation: 4 m. Date added to IBC: September 12, 2019.
