A male Rufous Treecreeper eating bread. Rufous Treecreepers (Climacteris rufus) are found in tall closed forests, open woodlands and mallee scrub in south-western Australia. As their name suggests, they forage for ants and other insects on tree trunks and also on the ground. This male Rufous Treecreeper was videoed in tall, wet Karri (Eucalyptus diversicolor) forest in the Porongurup National Park in southern Western Australia. Treecreepers are also partial to bread – this male was eating a small piece that had fallen from a picnic table. Elevation: 329 m. Date added to IBC: October 10, 2019.
