Colombian subspecies is significantly different. The flavigula subspecies of Acorn Woodpecker is different from its more northern relatives. The female woodpecker does not have any red on the head and the male has less red than their North American realtives. There is more streaking below on the flavigula subspecies and the white wing patches are much smaller. Elevation: 2085 m. Date added to IBC: March 15, 2019.
