Baudin's Cockatoo pair feeding on Marri (Corymbia calophylla) gum nuts . Baudin’s Black-Cockatoos are confined to the eucalyptus forests of south-western Australia, and are distinguished from the closely-related Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo by its long, finely curved, narrow bill that is adapted for removing seeds from the deep nuts of the Marri, Corymbia calophylla. The male has a pink eye-ring, and the female has a grey eye-ring and a clear, white ear patch. These birds nest in large, deep tree hollows that are more than a metre deep. Their nests are often taken over by feral honeybees (Apis mellifera) – this sometimes results in the death of nestlings. Elevation: 315 m. Date added to IBC: June 29, 2017.
