Juvenile Black-fronted Dotterels hunting in a drying puddle. Black-fronted Dotterels (Elseyornis melanops) are widespread in Australia and are often seen on the margins of shallow wetlands. These three juvenile birds were hunting in a drying puddle on the western edge of Lake Monger (Galup) in Perth, Western Australia. Juvenile Black-fronted Dotterels lack the black breast band and black forehead of adults, and have paler plumage. Elevation: 13 m. Date added to IBC: November 1, 2018.
