Pied Cormorant preening with Sanderlings on seagrass wrack at Becher Point. The Pied Cormorant (Phalacrocorax varius) is a large pied cormorant that is found all around the Australian coast, and also occurs in large inland wetlands in eastern Australia. In Western Australia it is mostly found in marine and estuarine habitats. This Pied Cormorant was preening after fishing close to shore. Near it are three Sanderlings in non-breeding plumage, a Silver Gull and two non-breeding Crested Terns. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: April 15, 2018.
