Pied Cormorants sitting on seagrass wrack, Becher Point. The Pied Cormorant (Phalacrocorax varius) is a large pied cormorant that is found all around the Australian coast, and also occurs in large inland wetlands in eastern Australia. In Western Australia it is mostly found in marine and estuarine habitats. Pied Cormorants mostly eat fish and these birds had come ashore to dry their feathers after fishing amongst seagrass wrack at Becher Point in the Port Kennedy Scientific Park, south of Perth. Sitting with them are non-breeding Crested Terns, Caspian Terns and an Australian Silver Gull. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: April 15, 2018.
