觀察細節
One bird calling CONSTANTLY from the tops of the burned-out trees lining the marsh. It seemed pretty agitated that I was there and it would fly around at eye level and call when I got near it in a specific corner of the marsh. I walked the margins of the marsh all over but the bird only staked out a “territory” in the area nearest to the road and the parking spot (west-most area). A 2nd bird flew out from the burned saplings on the SE end of the marsh, about 30 yards uphill. It circled high and I lost it; don’t know where it disappeared to. I walked over to the area it flew out of but no sign of nest or young birds. I didn’t see any young or any nests. Frankly, there didn’t seem to be any suitable nesting trees near the marsh! It’s all burned Lodgepole saplings. Maybe there was a nest nearby where the one bird seemed to hold a solid territory or maybe it’s just defending a space hoping for a mate and there isn’t a nest. I’ll go back later this week to look again for nesting evidence.
