觀察細節

Adult, stood out right away as it swam with Ring-billed Gull and Herring Gull, with distinctly darker mantle. Once in the scope there was no question of identification, with round head, dark eye, extensive black in wingtips, intermediate size. It seemed to be comfortable sleeping, but suddenly took off at 10:55 with a couple of Herring Gulls, circled up to a few hundred feet, and headed NW over the treetops. A check of Barton Cove did not refind it.
