观察细节

It became hard to keep track of individuals, so I am using a conservative estimate. From Winegar Lake, I walked northwest through the burned fields to the main ridge running through the CA. I set up at a western point on the ridge until the Woodcocks began peenting just after 7:30. As I walked south, I heard many Woodcocks peenting and heard and saw many flight displays, which were constant until I left. The birds were very close at times. As I walked back to the parking area, I even flushed four silent Woodcocks that had rested in the trail. In the attached recording there are at least four Woodcocks vocalizing. Note the aggressive cackle from 0:59-1:02.
