Neotropical Institute Cut # not announced. NOTES: PART A: This is one of the two types of song (song type "A") or call that is usually heard at dusk, although this time I heard nothing from these birds until about 9pm. (In background is "wail call" of Ciccaba virgata.) PART B: Song type "B", given naturally. I goth the impression that t his is probably the female. (Note the similarity of form of both types "A" and "B" to those of C. albitarsus.) The call or song that I think is of the male is heard in background. It is the other type of song or call that is usually heard at dusk. (Second section is natural song but not natural interval.) PART C: This is type "B" given as reaction to playback of part B. Note the difference at beginning. After the playback it was silent for perhaps 5 minutes and then began with this song. PART D: 2200 HOURS. The bird maintained its excited state (spurred on by occasional bits of playback) flying from one perch to another at intervals of several minutes. These are some recordings of those songs. (male? in background).
