观察细节
This was a pretty confusing bird, I'm not gonna lie. It definitely had yellow wing shafts and tail, but its face was mostly gray, with a faint brown mustache which is characteristic of red-shafted or gilded, but not yellow-shafted flickers. It's possible this is a YS/RS intergrade, but I think it is just as possible that this is a RS/Gilded hybrid as gilded flickers breed in the joshua tree forests of Nevada, closer than any yellow-shafted breeders. I'm sorry I couldn't get a better shot of the crown to assess its amount of cinnamon, but she wasn't interested in coming out to play. Interestingly, the refuge manager said he's seen this (or a) yellow bird in this area the past two years. But I don't know any more details than that.
