minimum count; it could be 12 or more. Nearly all were initially picked up flying hard left towards the feeding frenzy and then diving into the middle of it. The first 4 were known to be in the middle of the frenzy with others were found far to the right, flying hard left toward the flock. I only saw one in flight for any distance to the right, and that was after we got to a count of 6. At least two more were found far to the right... just off the Point (one of them sitting)... before flying left. When one looked to the left in the frenzy it was often easy to find one or more, sometimes sitting. All were identified by clean black-and-white appearance, and in flight each had obvious 'Tree Swallow' white ovals on sides of rump, a very short tail, and white undertail coverts reaching to the tip of the tail. White undertail coverts could be seen on some closer sitting bird, as well as the half-circle auricular 'wrap around' facial pattern of closer ones. Several times we got to watch a Manx in flight next to a Black-vented in flight, which really illustrated how short-tailed is Manx compared to long-tailed Black-vent, and the dramatic difference in smudginess to neck, breast, flanks, and undertail in BVSH. Photos attempted by Cooper and me.
