Male in second winter/second nonbreeding plumage. Pale blue head, yellowish-orange shield outlined in black and small orange-pink bill, paler at tip. Black back and two “sails” sticking up. White breast has some blotches. Off Pen A with Long-tailed Ducks. Sleeping in between flying around, when two big white patches on each side of tail could be seen. We are delighted to see this colourful duck from the Arctic tundra in Toronto again this winter.
